BOOK BY EMMY NOMINATED DIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER GORDON PEIRCE SCHMIDT
MUSIC AND LYRICS BY MULTI-PLATINUM RECORDING ARTIST BRIAN VANDER ARK
A street artist (TAGGER) is seeking his transcendent aha moment, and creates his most stunning work, a fantasy of color and light wherein the main subject (BEAUTY) comes to life, leaves the artwork to explore her new world, and gets discovered by a sleazy, opportunist talent manager (BRYAN) who exploits her beauty by creating a perverse fashion line inspired by her unique style, grace, and charm.
Seeing her flourish in her new found celebrity, TAGGER warns her of the perils of 15 minute fame, but having plied her with money, drugs and his constricting haute couture that ties her down, BRYAN succeeds in turning BEAUTY into yet another lifeless automaton.
Grieving for the girl, the creation that he feels he’s lost, and bolstered by a trio of barflies that cheer him on to “man-up”, TAGGER seeks to recreate BEAUTY, and with the help of the PAINTED PEOPLE who emerged with her from his original work, begins a new piece of art, but unable to clear his mind of BEAUTY he tears his creation down in a fit of frustration and passes out.
BEAUTY, in the mean time has awakened to a new feeling of empowerment brought on by a nightmare fashion show of fantastical proportions in which she experiences BRYAN’S macabre vision. She sees him for who he truly is, and rejects him, ultimately resurrecting her self worth.
In a moment of tender admonishment BEAUTY explains over a sleeping TAGGER that he shouldn’t mistake the creative process for love, and after gently kissing him awake fades into the night. TAGGER rises to find himself amidst the rubble of his art, and laments the loss of his creation, only to stumble upon a new potential muse.
